Answers about San Diego Superior Court traffic school — eligibility, deadlines, enrollment, and the course itself. Still have questions? Email info@freewaytrafficschool.com.
Yes. San Diego Superior Court accepts online Traffic Violator School from DMV-licensed providers. Freeway Traffic School holds CA DMV TVS License E1745, which is valid statewide — including San Diego County.
You still need to be eligible, and your courtesy notice must say you may attend traffic school before you register. Look up your case on the Pay Your Ticket portal to confirm.
Wait for your courtesy notice — San Diego mails it about two weeks before your appearance date, and it will say if you're eligible. Once you have it, you can request traffic school:
San Diego Superior Court grants a one-time 90-day continuance to complete traffic school, starting when the continuance is granted — not the date your citation was issued.
There's no automatic extension beyond the 90 days. If you need more time or the fee is a hardship, contact the court about payment-plan options or submit an ability-to-pay request through MyCitations before your deadline passes.
Always verify your specific deadline directly with the court — policies can change.
San Diego Superior Court charges your bail plus a $52 traffic school fee, paid directly to the court. This is separate from any course payment when you pass.
Pay it through the Pay Your Ticket portal, by mail, at an express drop box, by phone, or in person. Always verify the current fee amount with the court — it can change.
San Diego assigns a court code per traffic division — give your school the code that matches your division:
Your citation or courtesy notice shows which division has your case. See our Court Guide for full details on each.
To be eligible, you generally need to:
When in doubt, check your courtesy notice or the court — not us. We can't determine your eligibility.
It depends on the vehicle you were driving. If you hold a CDL but were cited in a non-commercial (personal) vehicle, San Diego Superior Court may still allow traffic school — the conviction won't be held confidential the way it is on a non-commercial license (it still shows on your record), but the court states that with traffic school completed it shows without a violation point. If you were driving a commercial vehicle, traffic school is not available for that citation. Check your courtesy notice and confirm with the court.
California limits traffic school to keeping one point confidential per 18-month period. The window runs from the prior violation date to the current violation date, not from when you attended or completed the earlier course. So if your violation dates are within 18 months of each other, only one can be masked.
The promotional course price is $19 through October 29, 2026 (regularly $49). Start free with no upfront course payment and pay when you pass.
This is separate from San Diego County's $52 court admin fee, which is paid directly to the court.

Electronically. Freeway Traffic School notifies San Diego Superior Court once you pass. California-licensed drivers don't need to mail a paper certificate — leave enough time before your 90-day deadline for the court record to update. Out-of-state license holders should check their division for self-reporting requirements.
